Permanent & In Ground Systems
Abu Dhabi Soccer City

Project Overview
Nestled in the shadows of Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, a state-of-the-art “Soccer City” has been built to offer world-class football training in Abu Dhabi.
The facility, which opened in 2018 under the auspices of His Excellency Aref Al Awani, General Secretary of the, Abu Dhabi Sports Council; is a joint project by Abu Dhabi Cricket and Abu Dhabi Sports Council. It provides eight new 5-a-side pitches that are open to the public. The facility was designed to be the first of its kind in the UAE Capital, and work began on the project in 2017.
Wallbank Fencing Ltd a member of CLD’s Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS), teamed up with SIS Pitches Middle East and, with the help of CLD Physical Security Systems, designed and supplied a bespoke sports fencing system.
Given that the work was scheduled to start over 5,000 kilometers away from their Cheshire-based manufacturing plant, getting it right the first time was the only option for CLD Fencing Systems. Wallbank Fencing stepped into the role of “boots on the ground,” liaising with SIS Pitches Middle East and helping to project manage and implement the design and installation of the scheme, which included several site visits.
The work was completed on time and on a budget in March 2018 and has since proven to be a jewel in the crown of sports in Abu Dhabi. It has hosted a number of competitions and continues to offer world-class facilities for men, women, and children in the United Arab Emirates.

The Brief
With any world-class sporting facility, the need for quality and adaptability was key in the specification of the fencing systems.
- Separation of the 8 pitches to prevent balls from entering play in other pitches
- Strong and robust design to prevent damage to the fencing system
- Integral goal mouths to help reduce space in the complex.
